Untitled; mariticide is part of an open and ongoing series of portraits in relief that I began in 2013 using discarded body castings to create images. Mariticide is a special word for the murder of one’s husband. I made this as an exploration of the burden of murder for freedom.
Not ironically, only the deceased male’s face is portrayed, and the woman’s identity is lost to history.
